Never heard that song before although I know several of his.

I’m inclined to think the whole politics stuff is all theatre and the stage is being set for a Trump victory, especially with the recent Joevid stuff too. But as I said before when you mentioned he had been your boss, it’s always good to get first hand reports of how powerful people treat you. A trusted person’s good word is worth a thousand ads.

Julie, I’m like you —I am just watching the movie! Refill my hot tamales and popcorn 🌶 🍿

I felt the earworm was a premonition I needed to share today. I honestly have never paid attention to this song, so when it rang in my brain last week, I checked out the lyrics, and I was like 😳

Have a beautiful day 💖✨🤗

Here, it’s another day in the beautiful country. We are sitting outside where there’s a cool breeze drinking margaritas, and just being in the moment watching our cats have frolick, cruising my mint patch so we can take in its cool refreshing scent.

That is a lovely song Charlotte. We tend to think the past was a simpler time but it wasnt really, its just that we were simpler, more innocent, less wordly. Bobby Darins troubles remind me of that. Sandra Dee: Gidget. Who knew she could not manage adulthood and marriage? Alas she was not Gidget and he was not Natureboy. But their conflict produced a beautiful, beautiful song.

Thank you so much, that was so extraordinarily stated. Great. observations, Isha! Hollywood narratives profoundly affect our belief system. Like you said, how could Gidget not manage adulthood and marriage? We want to believe the character the screen portrays and forget these are real people in real life. And what Bobby and Sandra bring to reality is a beautiful song despite the conflict which ignited its inspiration.

It seems within the first half hour of hearing about terms attempted assassination, that you were and began in my head. Simple sound of freedom. Sending you much love!✨💖✨🤗

Very interesting, learning about Bobby Darin. I was always a fan, but I didn't know his birth history until now. Thank you for sharing what you know. I love his, "Simple Song of Freedom", and I agree, we don't need another war. My first husband was killed in Vietnam. There are no winners in war, only losers. Just ask those of us who waited at home for our loved ones to return ... and they did. In a coffin. No more. Sing a song of freedom, everyone. Thank you.

@C.J. Heck Thank you so much. Those were unreal days, but I thought leave prevailed after the Vietnam War. I’m sad to hear about your first husband. That just sucks. 😞

Thank you for your kind words. You’re right, it did ‘suck’ —have to tell you, I enjoyed the quote by Private Joker —it surprised the hell out of me because of its sarcasm, but it makes perfect sense.

Sarcastic, but so true. The makers of war never die from their battles.

The heads of countries who want to go to war should be the ones who GO TO WAR —with each other. Lock them in a room with a truckload of … I don’t know … water balloons! Yeah, water balloons!

Whichever one wins the water balloon war, wins the war. Period. End of discussion.

Say what you will (and I will) about Trump, I still think it's the most heavenly thing ever said in politics that "There were very fine people on both sides," however you take it. Imagine Biden saying that, or any Democrat or Republican?

God bless you for humanizing people. Even if it's someone who is likely compromised, that's big.

Wistfully profound, Charlotte. I love your writing. Never knew all that about Bobby Darin. Such a tragic peaceful hero who, fortunately for us, emblazoned his indelible magic on our shared world.

Thank you J. Q. I was compelled to write about him when his song prodded my ear, Lol. I never listen to that song much. I gave it a little attention until the other day. I felt divinely inspired to share it. He was an amazing musical artist who could pick up on any genre and go with it. I especially love his Frank Sinatra type kroner tunes. He would have and should have been bigger than Sinatra. Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a beautiful week!✨🤗🥰

Thanks for this; I'd forgotten about this song! I didn't know that about Bobby Darin; I also was raised by grandmother believing she was my mother and not knowing my "sister" (my grandmother's oldest daughter) was actually my mother. That was actually common back then; I've met a fair number of folks my age (I'm 61) and older who were raised like that.

Like you I was too young to be part of the hippie movement, but growing up in Santa Cruz, California, it sure lingered for quite a while. I even married a hippie chick😂 (kind of a "Red-neck Hippie Romance" thing 😂 https://youtu.be/RqOOzTH8WIk?si=WgUk-C8j09NdprAq ).

Thanks for this!

Thank you so very much @erniet I greatly appreciate you reading and sharing my post. I had a manager who found out when he was like 50 plus years old his Uncle was his real father. His Mom got busy I guess. It was a family secret for decades. He always thought it was all his uncle practically lived at their house and paid more attention to him then his own father. With all the teen pregnancies and abortion not an option I would imagine like you said it was far more calm and then people understood. I’m sure each family felt isolated in their secret. Sending you much love and I hope you are enjoying a beautiful summer day. I love this song and your hippie romance!☮️✌️💖🤗

Thank you @Dee Rambeau Darin suffered rheumatic fever since a child. That he managed to live until 37 was a miracle. Death was always at his door. He had a genius IQ. While standing at the grave of Robert Kennedy, just after the burial service, Darin experienced a mystic revelation. So powerful and rich in meaning was this revelation to him that it not only expanded his wisdom about the significance of human life, but changed the whole direction of his inner and outer selves. According to Bobby, the spiritual influence of the late Senator reached out toward him with such strength that it enabled him to attain what he describes as "metaphysical illumination." For a few hours, as the aura of RFK's spirit surrounded him, Bobby experienced what the oriental call "Satori" or sudden and absolute realization about himself and the world.

Thanks to those hours standing at RFK's grave. The old Bobby Darin is gone for good. There's a new me, a better me, a person who's at peace with himself, and striving to for only one thing: to help the world change toward goodness, just as the late Senator Kennedy ardently desired Bobby Darin

HUGs Charlotte💖I remember... yet here we are, again. The anger in everything, rage of the age distilled in words aimed at all, and no one can answer -

only love can answer and even it is silenced by those who profit from hate. I pray Bobby's beautiful words can heal the wounds inflicted on this nation. God have mercy, God have mercy on us all.

There was so much to impact writing about Darin’s life. Any day he could die and knew it so not a moment was wasted on frivolous deeds. He was heavily affected by Robert F Kennedy and after Kennedy died that night he said by his grave and this is what I found in my research.—you’ll love this:

This is really lovely! Thank you for sharing. I had no idea that Bobby Darrin was there the night RFK was killed or what a dramatic family story he had.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time working for Trump. It’s nice to hear those stories.

Thank you @Nika Scothorne Darin’s life is fascinating. He didn't have the scandalous lifestyle of manyhis peers during his day. He was really a family man with little time to live. He didn't waste the time he had on trivial world things. Understanding his mortality early in life allowed him a perspective on living others couldn't see. So he just what he thought most important.
