What a beautiful memoir, Charlotte. And so beautifully written. The Slussers were such a gifted family. Chet & MaryLu visited us on Whidbey Island back in the mid-80's after we had left Porterville... they were the most wonderful people. Thank you for your story!

Thank you Bruce! I hope you guys are well! They were a wonderful family. I met MaryLu a few times, and she so nice to me, and Chet was pretty popular because of he was the Fire Chief. The kids all all liked him, and my Dad knew him from Masons. I think he made circus models or something. I sure miss David, and Clyde has been absolutely wonderful sending me photos to use and information.

A beautiful story, thank you. My high school yearbook photo is similar. My friend had to shoot this shy girl completely unaware from outside and through the window! It is truly my favorite photo of me. Later I would become a photojournalist with a learned gentleness for my sensitive photo subjects.

Thank you! I appreciate your comment and that she relayed to my experience throw those shy days @rena this one isn’t mine class photo. It’s just a candid shot use throughout the year book. But I still remember my senior picture and when it was taken. I worry a burgundy sweater with a little cross necklace. It’s put away in one of my albums somewhere. I will have to dig it out. Have a beautiful magical weekend. And thank you again!

That photo of the high school swim team: you identified yourself out of courtesy but there really was no need. The rest of the team was just a frame. Obviously he framed it that way. He knew. It is great that you can return the tribute.

Thank you Jackson, and his amazing tribute was done without words, to be uncovered by me later making it even more significant because I appreciate it now at 70 years old! Have a beautiful day, and thank you again! ✨💖✨

I know - my oldest is moving out next month. It’s bittersweet but I’m eager to see her take flight.

That is indeed bittersweet, but every Mama bird has to let her fledglings go, but with some joy to go along with the disappointment of letting go. 🤗
