An excellent memoir of growing up in the late 1960s and early '70s. I can relate to much of what you wrote, including the fear of the wringer-washer. My mother told us the rollers would swallow our arms, and I believed it then, seeing how the rollers easily swallowed items of clothing.
It is cool how you reconnected with your high school sweetheart. It was meant to be, especially after so much tragedy. The 2008 Financial Crash was a terrible tragedy for many people, including our family, but that is another story.
Actually had tears in my eyes when reading the story of you and Randy. Was it you singing in It's All An Illusion? I love it! Thank you for sharing the story of your brother. He seems like a very sweet soul but I guess we carry burdens and troubles that we need to let go of. It's a journey till we meet again. It may be presumptuous of me to comment but just poured my thoughts out in this comment, dear Charlotte! XO

Our lives it seems followed similar paths. The late 60’s and early 70s was a sweet time to be a teenager. We had the best music and times!
